Bright, Tight and Powerful

This family is so dear to my heart. They came to the shoot, dressed so beautifully and ready for anything and everything. One of the many things I love about them is how naturally connected they are in these images. The afternoon light was so wonderful and despite being chilly, everyone smiled so warmly. I can’t believe these two handsome sons are now so much taller than their beautiful Mama! It was a perfect afternoon with dear friends. Honored to capture your lovely family again.

Side-Splitting Shenanigans!

Blog readers will recognize this awesome group, which holds the record for the most sessions ever! This year, they brought along their fabulous grands and we all had a ball together. I love all their silly traditional poses, like this “over it” pose where even the dog looks bored. They weather was great and everyone looked spectacular. You might notice that in one of the photos, their sweet dog does not have her harness or leash. Well, it was there but through the power of Photoshop, I was able to remove it. Remember that you can often include extended family and/or pets, providing they’re outdoor shots and there’s not too much for us to manage. This session went swimmingly and I’m so honored to capture them every year.

G is for Giddy

I was so happy to hear back from a family that I had photographed last year that they wanted another session this year! Their kids continue to grow and their littlest one had this great outfit (and shoes) that made him look like he was about 35. Of course, I took them to the same spot with the magical lighting and everyone looked so terrific. Hooray for repeat business!

Thrice as Nice

It’s wonderful when a family brings in the newborn brother or sister of a previous subject but this family brought in a THIRD newborn (I had photographed her sisters previously when they were newborns). It was so great to see this family again and watch how those little babies had grown up. They are all so tiny and sweet so I can haul out my littlest props. You might recognize the last one that is inspired by her big sister in my facebook profile photo!

F is for Fun!

I haven’t seen this family for four years, when their youngest was still a toddler so I was super excited to hear that they wanted to update their photos! I was astonished at how their children had grown into such mature, lovely young people. Even better, we found a new spot at Bird Park that has the most wonderful afternoon light! I was so excited about how everyone looked so illuminated and glowy. The parents wisely asked for individuals of themselves, too. It’s always good to have a professional photo of yourself, just in case. You never know when you might need it. Thank you for the repeat business!

Growing Up!

Every year, I get so excited in the summer when this mom reaches out to schedule a fall session. It’s been such a pleasure to watch her family grow and to capture her children as they grow UP! It started when her oldest was a baby and we’ve done a session every year. I am always amazed at how well she puts together outfits for her family and her kids and I have so much fun together. Love those funny faces and candids! Thank you for the repeat business, B family!

Full Circle

These images bring happy tears to my eyes. Why? Because more than 20 years ago, I was honored to have had this lovely Mama in my pre-K classroom as a student. She was unforgettable and I was lucky enough to also have taught her younger sister and brother. We kept in touch over the years and eventually, she became a pre-K teacher too! In fact, I ended up having one of her pre-K students in my K class the following year! Earlier this year, I got the happy news that she was pregnant with twins. I was thrilled that she chose me to capture her beautiful babies in this session. What an incredible full circle moment for us both. Congratulations, J and welcome to the world, D and D!

The Graduate and the Goddess

This session was so special for me. I had photographed this stunning Mama when she was pregnant with twin daughters. At that point, her son was just a preschooler. In the blink of an eye, this handsome student is now a senior in high school! His clever mom arranged for a senior photo session with a twist: she would also do some photos to commemorate her birthday! It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon and the light was magical. What an honor to capture such a special time between them.

A is for Always on the Move :)

When little ones become mobile… watch out! You’ve got to have a quick lens and a lot of great distractions. Luckily for this family, our backyard slide was a favorite activity for their new walker. And when it seemed like she was starting to grow tired of the slide, my youngest daughter jumped in to help with distractions. It worked like a charm! We got a lot of adorable photos and had a lot of fun. P.S. remember to grab a couple photos of the couple! We know those babies are adorable but let’s not forget the folks who brought them into the world.

N is for New

It is a special honor to photograph a “rainbow baby.” Usually, this means that the baby is born after a loss or losses. This wonderful family came to me with this little peanut after he spent a while hanging in the NICU. He is thriving now and had a peaceful session curled up in several outfits and gave us a few smiles along the way!
